She interprets “Sikh” as a concept of continuous evolution and learning, translating to a learner dedicated to constant growth. Embracing the inevitability of failure and committing to learning from it is integral to this philosophy. By embodying the idea of perpetual learning, she fosters resilience, continuous improvement, and sustainable mental well-being for herself and those she works with.

She is a multilingual therapist fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and English, extending her therapeutic services to diverse communities.

Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds solace in exploring spirituality through nature, travel, singing, art, and moments of serene silence. Embracing various cultures, she savors diverse cuisines and cherishes encounters with people from all walks of life. Additionally, she finds joy in cooking and baking, making self-care an artful expression of love and warmth.

My Therapeutic Approach

Life’s unexpected twists can disrupt our emotional equilibrium, moving us from our baseline. Challenges are seen not as signs of brokenness but as indications that something might feel ‘off’ in the current state. Recognizing the uniqueness of each person’s baseline influenced by factors like genetics, upbringing, trauma, and disposition, varying levels of anxiety or engagement may result.

My objective is to cultivate self-awareness about your current functioning, understanding that challenges can temporarily shift mood and reactions. Through collaboration, the goal is to facilitate a reset, guiding you back as close to your baseline as possible given present circumstances.

Amidst this chaos, I actively encourage prioritizing self-care across physical, social, and spiritual dimensions. Valuing individual experiences, I adapt therapeutic techniques, accordingly, fostering emotional growth for more fulfilling relationships and providing tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Additionally, I emphasize investing in passions or hobbies to channelize difficult emotions, believing that dedicating time to joyful pursuits offers a valuable outlet for expressing and managing emotions. In essence, our work involves understanding your current state, identifying growth areas, and providing tailored support and strategies for your unique journey.

Education

I obtained my Ph.D. in Psychology from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, and pursued Post-Doctoral Training in Clinical Psychology at the Brandeis Counseling Center in Boston, USA. Throughout this academic journey, I immersed myself in multicultural counselling, gaining proficiency in diverse therapeutic approaches from both Western and Eastern traditions. This training has uniquely positioned me to integrate multicultural perspectives into my practice, ensuring a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to counselling.

Who Do I Serve:

Adolescents:

Initially hesitant about working with teens, I discovered their vibrant energy filled with hope and dreams. My passion involves supporting high-performing teens, often tying self-worth to grades. Academic pressure leads to anxiety, late-night homework, and panic when perfection isn’t achieved. I also assist teens in navigating complex emotions, especially losses in relationships. These challenges spill into various aspects of their lives, affecting family dynamics, relationships, and more.

During my Ph.D. years in India, I found working with adolescents powerful and fulfilling. As a trusted adult, I guide them through tough choices, fostering resilience and self-regulation for a well-rounded adulthood.

Adults:

Specializing in empowering high-achieving professionals and college students in the US, I navigate the delicate balance between self-worth and job titles or academic achievements. Addressing perfectionism, I help individuals manage overwhelming tasks, avoiding burnout and heightened anxiety.

Focused on supporting women, I address the challenges of aligning self-worth with professional or academic achievements, extending this support to homemaker women whose invaluable work is often disregarded. My sessions encompass not only professional and academic challenges but also delve into identity issues, the intricate balance of managing children, parents, and relationships. It’s a space to address obstacles, cultivate resilience, and embrace your multifaceted identity in various aspects of life.

Elderly:

As a support for the elderly, and being a daughter and daughter-in-law myself, I understand the challenges of this transformative phase. My collaborative work addresses multifaceted aspects of aging, including health concerns, adapting to an empty nest as children work abroad, and the delicate balance of staying alone or with busy, working children. Together, we explore avenues for maintaining meaningful connections, fostering resilience, and embracing the richness of life’s later chapters.
